Pure Noise Records will release Create Avoid’s “Pastime” 7”/EP on May 22^nd. The record is made up of four new songs that were engineered and produced by Sam Pura at The Panda Studios. See cover art and track listing below. The Riverside , CA hardcore/metal 5-piece will play a hometown record release show on May 25 at Riverside ’s The Vibe.

WEST OF HELL Announces New Single ‘Water of Sorcery’, Upcoming Canadian Tour, and Pre-Sale Packages

Vancouver, BC’s WEST OF HELL is pleased to announce the release of their upcoming single, ‘Water of Sorcery’, cut from their upcoming album, Spiral Empire. The single will be released for sale online on April 19^th on iTunes, Amazon.com, CD Baby, and more. The track is the second on the album and is described by the band as a good ol’ drinking song.

“‘Watery of Sorcery’ is a quote by Kevin Spacey describing tequila. It’s a drinking song as many before it,” states vocalist Chris Valago. “Deep as a pint and long as a horn. The moment of clarity when liquor reveals the soul.”

Spiral Empire will be released with Reversed Records on May 8^th, 2012, and features a unique sound that preserves the band’s legendary, distinctive influences whilst incorporating modern elements, creating a one-of-a-kind listening experience. Spiral Empire was recorded at The Factory Studios in Vancouver and is produced by Juno Award winning engineer Rob Shallcross (Strapping Young Lad, GWAR, Zimmers Hole, Fear Factory).

WEST OF HELL was formed in West Auckland, New in 2002. The band relocated to Vancouver, B.C., Canada in 2009 in search for a singer that was more than just a screamer, which drastically narrowed the possibilities. The band played a series of shows as a four-piece instrumental, drawing critical acclaim, and ultimately attracted the attention of the local metal community. The exposure led them to Zimmers Hole frontman Chris “The Heathen” Valagao. It was apparent to the founding members that Valagaos’s diverse skills were exactly what WEST OF HELL needed to realize the band’s ultimate vision.

WEST OF HELL is here to reclaim the great genre of metal that has been diluted by straight edge, clean cut posers who look like rejects from American Idol. WEST OF HELL will lead you back down the path of true metal!

Invictus Guitars UK  are holding a guitar clinic at Distrikt Bar in Leeds on May 3rd. More details about the event can be found at the Facebook event page https://www.facebook.com/events/329585130439312/

There will be a guitar clinic and Q & A with Swedish “thall” pioneers, Vildhjarta, alongside demonstrations from When Giants Collide, Those City Lights, and Nautilus.

Entry for the event is a paultry £2 and takes place before (and around the corner from) the Veil of Maya, Betraying The Martyrs and Vildhjarta show at The Cockpit. The venue has a fine selection of food and drink available to purchase as you enjoy the event. It should be a fun and interesting couple of hours.

So if any one has an interest in potentially buying an Invictus Guitar, has a particular interest in guitars, wants to speak to some people that know their guitars, or are attending the Vildhjarta show later that day and have some time to kill and £2 spare, then come along and socialise.

German female-fronted symphonic metallers XANDRIA have issued the following update:

“Bad luck for our bass guitar player Nils [Middelahauve]. Whilst we were playing the most recent shows with EPICA, Nils severely hurt his right forefinger on stage which eventually led to a serious blood poisoning after the last show. Due to this sepsis, he had to undergo surgery twice in the course of the past week, which will now disable him to tour for the upcoming 4-6 weeks. Nils surely is extremely disappointed to not hit the road again in April, but feels comfortable in knowing there is a well-known substitute: XANDRIA‘s European tour with EPICA and STREAM OF PASSION in April will now be played with SERENITY‘s Fabio D’Amore, who is happy to fill in on bass guitar for the tour. So, no worries, we won’t miss a single show. Please come out and support Fabio on his spontaneous new endeavor and wish Nils all the best for a return very soon!”
